Forgive the killer in me

I forget the good in you

Believe whatever you want to believe

Whatever helps you to find peace

Whatever you want to think about me

Do whatever you have to do

Better me than you

Because what do I have to lose

I feel the birds circle above

Just like the thoughts we never spoke of

If this is all we’ll ever be

Then I’ll forgive and you forget me

Brooklyn duo, Tiger Silko, Release Second Single April 2023

Cinematic, dream pop album inspired by space operas, tarot and Carl Sagan to follow

April 13th, 2023 (Brooklyn, NY) - Tiger Silko releases second single Killer off their upcoming, debut album. The melancholic track hints at a plaintive acceptance, or perhaps resignation, of past crimes, with Jaeggi’s intimate voice floating above Wright’s sparse electro-acoustic production. The duo asked Jaeggi’s mother to record the spoken word bridge in Japanese, reinforcing the song’s theme and contributing to the film-like quality of the soulful track. Killer is a libra, a mercenary with mixed feelings, the god of death, a pair of scales, a raven’s gaze, the samurai blade, a dark veil and a gentle whisper for redemption.

What began as singer-songwriter Lisa Jaeggi lending vocals to Jonathon Wright’s independent film scores, developed into a collaboration to create a soundtrack for a non-existent film. Faced with the limitations imposed by scoring scenes that had already been shot, as well as budgets, producers and directors to contend with, the duo slowly began working a dreamy, sci-fi-inspired tracklist limited only by their imaginations.

On the songwriting side, Jaeggi takes much of the inspiration from astronomy, mythology, tarot, dreams, magic, the occult, the human condition, and space operas like Dune. All while incorporating personal themes like loss, regret, existential loneliness, intrusive thoughts, self-awareness and hedonism. To tell the stories through the lush arrangements,  Wright turns to his eclectic love of opera, dance and cinematic inspirations, ranging from Mozart’s The Magic Flute to Johann Johannsson to Phillip Glass.

The song, as well as the entire album, was recorded and mixed in Wright’s home studio and is the culmination of nearly four years of crafting, polishing and reworking to tell the most compelling story. The balance of Jaeggi’s love of darker pop music (The Weeknd, Labrinth, Alt-J, Radiohead) and Wright’s more classic repertoire (Pink Floyd, Popol Vuh, David Shire, Kate Bush) results in a collection of hypnotic yet catchy songs that follow a fantastical journey across the album.
